Movies From a DVD to Your Thrive
« on: January 06, 2012, 05:01:31 am »

I just bought a 32gb Thrive and need to get 2 things done before an upcoming trip.

1. I want to transfer several movies I have on DVD to the SD card I bought or to the Thrive its self.
2. I would like to save several movies I already have on an external HD to either the SD card or Thrive and watch them but they are in AVI format.

ANyone have any ideas on how I can make either or both of these things happen?

Hi there Jturner,  Your questions are actually very common and there's an easy solution.  Android tablets...and in fact any Android device I believe require video files to be in .mp4 format.   There are a number of different programs that can convert to .mp4 but perhaps the most popular free one is called 'HandBrake' which can be gotten here: http://handbrake.fr/

There are also some video players that claim to play .mkv directly on your Thrive but people seem to have mixed results. May be worth giving a try though:  www.rockplayer.com.

Finally there are also other DVD/video converters you can find but many will cost you a few bucks.   One I've heard is decent is http://www.foxreal.com/top-dvd-to-thrive-converter-copy-play-dvd-movies-on-toshiba-thrive/

Hope this helps!
